Overview
RENDR is a room measuring app that enables contractor sales teams to save time throughout the sales process. The app does this by quickly measuring the dimensions of a room including window, doors and other detailed room information. This allows teams to shift to a fully digital workflow and keeps all of their job documents organized, accessible and shareable. With RENDR estimates of a job takes around 50% less time so contractors can bid on more jobs in less time.
Key Features
- Produces scans of a room with it’s windows, doors and other room features and provides dimensions of all items.
- Saves and stores all room information securely.
- Visualize the room scan in 2D or 3D renderings.
- Export scans to PDF, Chief Architect, CAD and RENDR formats.
- Customize the scan exports with various settings to better bid on jobs.
- Uses LiDAR technology to scan the rooms.
- Edit room plan PDFs with markup, text and drawings.
My Role
I was brought on to lead the iOS team as well as to introduce a cohesive architecture to the app. Working with the CEO and product owner I helped shape the initial MSP (minimum sellable product) of the app for investors and initial sales.
This includes:
- Rearchitecting the app to use MVVM+C within SwiftUI.
- Advising the product team and CEO on iOS best practices and capabilities.
- Fixing bugs and supporting the Django backend.
- Managing iOS developers to maintain codebase conceptual integrity.
I was brought on again to create a PDF editor screen to add markup and text to PDF floorpans for notes that contractors can use.
This included:
- Using PDFKit to create a PDF editor screen with custom interactions.
- Integrate Apple’s PencilKit to allow drawing on the PDF
- Syncing edited PDF files with the server.
